FAMILY LONCHAEIDAE
Paul L.Th. Beuk and Herman de Jong Version date: 01-09-2024 17:03

Diagnosis. Small to medium-sized (3.0-6.0 mm) and squatty built, shining metallic bluish flies. Head large and hemispherical, lunule broadly exposed. Cell c wide. Halteres black in all species. Abdomen short and broad, flattened dorsoventrally. Female with rigid, piercing-type ovipositor.
